Diving in Bali is varied and attractive. The sea offers many surprises from diving the USS Liberty on the east coast, Puri Jati and Menjangan in the northern regions of near to the south Nusa Lembongan. The marine life found around Bali is diverse. From the weird and wonderful sunfish or Mola Mola, as it is locally named, sunfish are commonly sighted between June and September. Pygmy seahorse, ghost pipe fish, and mimic octopus are commonly sighted in the north. Diving is nearly year round but does vary from place to place, as there are some strong currents which come at particular times of the year. Plenty of diving can be done from shore as well, once again depending on the weather so that the entries are not too difficult.
The USS Liberty, is a well known wreck. It is the perfect place to dive a few dives. The vessel, which has been sunk since 1963 is full of life. The wreck is totally covered in hard and soft corals. An abundance of marine life can be found on the wreck and in the black sands where it lies from 3 to 29 meters in depth. There are many other hot spots for diving around Bali and one could just spend a dive vacation seeing volcanoes, and rice terraces as they commute from many dive destinations around the island.
