Welcome to Misool Eco Resort
This private resort island, Batbitim, is fringed with powder-white beaches, protected by stunning clear lagoons and abundant reefs, perfect for diving. The beach-front restaurant is located on the North Beach, looking out over a shallow turquoise lagoon. It's the perfect place to enjoy a sunset drink while watching the black tip reef sharks hunting in the bay.
The menu has been created with the discriminating palate in mind by an internationally-trained chef. The restaurant offers exceptionally tasty, nutritious, and whenever possible, organic fare from local sources. The tiny tropical island is connected by pathways with clear shallow waters beneath. Everything is just a few steps away and dive sites just a kick away.
This is an eco resort, and the dedication to this project is only a start, to the future plans that lie ahead for this tiny slice of heaven in Raja Ampat. The construction and operation of the resort have been meticulously engineered to minimize the environmental impact. In addition to salvaging driftwood and milling their own lumber, they’ve engineered the buildings with energy efficiency in mind. Waste water gardens have been installed to minimize consumption, and currently they are experimenting with solar and wind power to augment the generators. The Misool Conservation Centre will be located on a small beach on the north side of the Batbitim.
A UK-registered non-profit, the Conservation Centre will provide a well-equipped, functional base for scientific research and conservation projects, as well as accommodation for visiting researchers and scientists. The aim is to facilitate continuing research, with hopes of filling a critical gap in the understanding of this complex and important ecosystem. This is the perfect place for relaxing.
The resort offers two levels of accommodation. There are eight Water Cottages located in the North Lagoon, built on stilts over the water. They're just steps from the Dive Centre and restaurant. Stairs lead from your private veranda down into the placid lagoon, and the House Reef is about 100 fin-kicks away. There is also one deluxe villa, Villa Tabisasu, located on the eastern edge of the North Lagoon.
Water Cottages
The water cottages are built into the natural environment. The half covered bathroom is tasteful and natural with its stone flooring and wooden panels. The rooms are air-conditioned with a great view and large verandas. There are hammocks built right into the veranda for relaxing and sun bathing. The steps down from the veranda allow for your own private entry into the water for swimming or snorkeling. All cottages are equipped with mosquito nets, in room safes and fans.
Villa Tabisasu
The Deluxe Villa, Villa Tabisasu, is a gorgeous 2-room villa and is conveniently located near the dive centre, built on the outer edge of the North Lagoon. Its massive outdoor living area faces east and enjoys glorious sunrise views, all your own. Villas Tabisasu has a private air-conditioned bedroom that adjoins a separate living room, leading out onto a large veranda with a built in day bed. The villa has a refrigerator, a safe, and mosquito nets draping the bed.
Internet connection is available (via satellite) at a cost of €0.33 per minute.
Soft drinks are €2 and beer €3 each.
The Dive Centre has been designed to meet the needs of professional videographers and photographers. There are separate wet and dry areas, with individual diving equipment stations and television for viewing the day’s images. Perhaps best of all, there is a spacious sun-deck on which to enjoy the spectacular top-side views. The wet room is 52.5 sq meters and is furnished with plenty of camera tables and work stations. Each cottage is assigned its own kit storage area in the Dive Centre. The kitting up platform is quite roomy.
Within the dry area, you'll find computer stations, comfortable lounge chairs, and a monitor for viewing the day’s images. The sunny veranda is perfect for drying out between dives and sipping cool drinks. Equipment Daily Full set of equipment (not incl. wetsuit) is €30, Torch €8 and Nitrox Fills €8/tank.
Raja Ampat Marine Park entry fee must be paid on arrival and is valid for one year. It is a cost of €37 or 500,000 IRP.
Raja Ampat is home to the world's richest reefs. Located at the heart of the Coral Triangle, the region sprawls over 180,000 square kilometers and boasts the majority of the world's reef-building corals. In fact, in an area the size of two football fields, scientists discovered more than six times as many coral species as live in the entire Caribbean Sea.
Raja Ampat has over 700 species of mollusks and 1,200 species of fish. Counted among those is the newly discovered 'walking' epaulette shark, commonly seen on night dives on the house reef here. In 2005, Misool Eco Resort reached an agreement with the local village and secured the rights to 400+ sq km of sea surrounding the resort island, Batbitim. Inside this No-Take Zone, all fishing, cyanide fishing, bombing, shark finning, harvesting of turtle eggs and shellfish are prohibited. Many sites have been explored yet there are still many more waiting to be discovered. Shore dives are available to divers with 50+ dives between 07:00 and 21:00. Diving only in buddy teams is permitted.
Boat dives are guided; some dive sites are only minutes away, ten to be exact. However for dive sites that are further away there are optional 2 tank day trips available. Safety is a top concern and should never be overlooked. Each diver must dive with a computer and SMB.
